Welcome to Blue Bird Pottery
About Me
Creativity has always played a big part in my life.
Hi There, My name is Kelly & as a retired Hairdresser of 30years working with my hands became second nature to me.
My love of Clay began in my High School years from my upbringing in Australia.
My creations start their humble beginning on the pottery wheel.
Over recent time mounds of clay evolved to become a canvas that tells my story.
Each piece resonates what I grew up around and love so dearly-
"The Great Australian Bushland" but with a twist of Irish Coast on my backdoor
step here in County Kerry.
There's something so soothing and meditating about working on the wheel with clay.
I love what I do, also to pass on that passion to my 4 children & also to students.
I love working with my hands. Each piece is unique and forms evolve and change constantly.

The Studio
Pottery Workshops
Blue Bird Pottery Studio is located in Killorglin County Kerry Ireland.

My workshops are a social setting snuggled in my backyard amongst many Eucalyptus trees a large Vegetable Garden & beautiful blossom trees with the magnificent
Carrantuohill Mountain amongst the Macgillycuddy Reeks in the backdrop.
I have a small gallery space and my studio is open to the public by appointment.
My workshops are designed for everyone from those who have no clay experience to those who want to increase their knowledge & skills.
Participating in a workshop is a great opportunity for those who have
always wanted to have a go at creating something new.
They are also a great way to spend a few hours & forget about the demands of everyday life.
Each workshop is based around a specific theme or project, allowing students to make the projects they wish to undertake. Letting your creativity & style shine through your piece is always encouraged.
Sustainability is very important to me I always minimize waste, all clay scraps are reclaimed and reused, and packaging repurposed or recycled as much as possible. We use natural soaps and cleaning products that are as sustainable as possible.
Clay is a naturally tactile and responsive material, so can enable people of any age and ability to learn skills and develop at their own pace. It can help with motor skills, imaginative play, sensory experience, personal development, confidence and general wellbeing.
Offering classes to adults, teens and children in both group settings and private lessons,
there’s something for anyone looking to-
